How Disastrous Is Climate Change For Our Health?

How Disastrous Is Climate Change For Our Health?

It is no more a secret now that climate change is of the grave crises that human beings are struggling with. In every part of the world, climate change is showing its disastrous impacts on the livelihood and health of people. In the United States, for instance, hurricanes, heat waves, and soil erosion are common occurances. Likewise, in 2022, the scorching heat in Europe had deadly consequences.

The temperature that was recorded in most parts of Europe in the summer of 2022 was unprecedented. Additionally, glaciers and polar ice is melting at an accelerated pace. All of these are the telltale signs of climate change. According to the latest updates, around 6 million people die because of extremely cold and hot climates.

Thus, these unprecedented heat waves and extremely cold climates are putting people’s lives at risk. This is the case not only in Europe but in other parts of the world as well. However, it is essential to note here that climate change is not only making human livelihood vulnerable. Instead, it is also putting our planet earth at risk. Soil erosion, deforestation, wildfire, and melting glaciers are the consequence of climate change.

How precisely climate change impacts our health, is a question worth asking. And the answer is that the impacts of climate change on our health are disastrous. Due to extreme cold and hot climates, we will likely encounter plagues, deadly diseases, and many physical and mental illnesses.

These illnesses are apparent. You do not have to be a medical expert to tell that these diseases are caused by climate change. However, a more in-depth study tells us that climate change causes more “hidden” illnesses that often go unnoticed.

Cardiovascular & Hearth Diseases

To begin with, wildfires cause air pollution. Once the gusty wind of wildfires mixes with the air, it creates pollutants in the air. As we inhale this polluted air, we will likely get exposed to cardiovascular and heart diseases.

Thus, if you look at the underlying issue, you will figure out that these wildfires are caused by extremely hot weather. In turn, this hot climate is because of climate change.

Exhaustion

Another direct impact of climate change on our health is exhaustion. According to health experts, extreme heat waves that are caused by extremely hot climates give birth to exhaustion. In 2021, a heat stroke hit the United Kingdom, and almost 1.2 million lost their lives because of unbearable exhaustion.

Similarly, natural disasters like floods and soil erosion are other signs of climate change. These natural disasters cost millions of lives every year – throughout the world. People succumb to death because of drownings and injuries. Above all, every natural disaster makes planet Earth vulnerable and causes several chronic diseases.
